I'm using windows 10 on my laptop. It keeps turning off my WiFi by itself.
If I run the troubleshooter it says that WiFi capability has been turned off. If I tell it to turn it back on it normally does, but minutes (or even seconds) later it turns it backoff.
I went to the internet settings window and can see that it has been turned off. When I turned it back on, I literally watched it switch it back off a second later all by itself right before my eyes. Any idea why it keeps doing this? Thanks. Windows 10: wifi turns off and on randomly? Windows 10 Discus and support wifi turns off and on randomly? Windows 10 in Windows 10 Network and Sharing to solve the problem; when im playing a game or browsing forums my wifi turns off, but the icon says its at full bars and not having any issues. I have tried to do the system restore 3 times but I keep gettingthis message:System restore did not complete successfully. Your computer's system files and settings were not changed.Details:System restore could not access a file. This is probably because an anti-virus program is running on the computer.
Temporarily disable your antivirus program and retry system restore. An unspecified error occurred during system restore. (0x80070005)You can try system restore again and choose a different restore point.
If you continue to see this error, you can try an advanced recovery method.I have Kaspersky antivirus on my computer. I turned it off the last two times I tried system restore but it didn't help. I also use windows defender. I try to bring it up but when I click on the program it says that it is already turned off but doesn't letme get to where I can change that.
When I go the long way and get to those settings. It says that it is on but the area where you are supposed to be able to switch that is greyed out and does not respond.I am up to date on all of my windows updates as well. As I am typing this out, I have to go back to my settings each time I change the page to turn my WiFi back on because it keeps switching itself off. Hello David,We understand the inconvenience you're going through. If possible, try to connect Ethernet cable directly to your PC till the Updates gets installed. If those Updates contain any Cumulative Updates, then there might be changes it will fix the issue.Sometimes problem might also happen with the installed Windows Updates or with the recent changes you have made on your PC.To confirm the same, navigate to Start Button/Settings/Update & Security/ Windows Update / Advanced options / View your update history, there you can find all installed updates. Check and let me know if any Cumulative Windows Updates installed on your PC exactly when this issue started happening. Also let me know in case you have made any changes to your PC.Keep us posted the outcome.
The last successful update was for Microsoft Office 2013 on 2/9/2016. Then it failed to install Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1511 for x64-based Systems (KB3135173) on 2/14/2016. That was the day after the WiFi started switching off. I haven'tmade any other changes to my pc.
But when I tried restarting today, I got a notice saying that Windows Host Task was preventing background programs from running, and it listed windows update as the programbeing stopped. My laptop as at the shutdown screenbut did not restart even after a minute or more had passed. I did a hard reset. Now I am at the update screen and it started to update. I came back and few minutes later and it said it was up to date but that it was last updated on the 9th. So I had it checkfor updates. A minute later it said that it was already up to date.
I checked the update history and now it says that it successfully installed that cumulative update on today's date of 2/18/2016. I am having this same issue. Last update was a feature update to windows 10, version 1607. Wireless adapter only stays on for a second then turns off. This update was on 12/15/16I just started having this same issue with the latest Windows 10 update December 2017. Tried doing system restore twice but both times failed to restore back to Dec 20th. Does not give other restore points to choose from.
