Is your Windows 10 taskbar not working? Ever since the new Windows OS launched, people keep on getting different issues with Windows 10 taskbar. Even though Microsoft has released a timely update, those who don’t update their systems may still have the issue.

The Volume icon in my task bar does not work. I keep getting referred to already answered questions for 'Volume icon missing from taskbar'My icon is NOT MISSING, it just doesn't do anything.

It was working perfectly well before today, now it is just an icon! Normally, I click on the icon, and a volume bar appears, where I can set the volume to suit the task I am working on. Skype calls,I have the highedt setting as HP laptop sound is. Games with background music (facebook Candy crush saga etc) I have the sound turned down.To recap, before someone tells me how to restore the icon:- The Icon is not missing, it is on the taskbar but does not work.Eventually I suppose, Windows 10 will drive people insane with it's constant gliches.

It doesn't work.NOTHING happens when I click it, NOTHING.This issue happened a couple of days ago (why does that have any bearing?)I have done no changes on the computer.I do NOT have speakers or headphones connected to the computer.Basically it's just another rubbish Windows 10 problem. I NEVER get it on my win 7 machine.Sorry, but your 'fix' is so convoluted I think I'll give it a miss. I'm just an ordinary joe, who wants his computer to work, without the constant farting about to fix stuff that should not need to be fixed.Last time, the Icon disappeared and I had to do a system restore to get it back. Obviously the wonderful windows 10 update screwed things up that time.I am totally sick of doing system restores, to repair stuff that Microsoft have broken.My next step is to throw the machine in the junk, and go buy myself an Apple machine. Only the basic files and drivers necessary to run Windows are started. This helps us in identifying whether the issue is due to some thirdparty programs conflict. Unplug external devices connected to the computer expectkeyboard and mouse.2. From login screen, press Shift key and click on thePower button and click restart to enter Advanced Boot Options.3.

Check this issue in clean boot state. Press Windows key + X key.

Hello,i've tried it all.First refreshed my PC.Than did a full refresh (did not keep any file).then SFC /scannow, both DISM commands, update, disabled non-MS services, disabled startup programs, uninstalled all programs etc. Etc.It doesn't work. That works for me. Press Ctrl+Shift+Escape to start Task Manager.

Click File - Run new task. Type 'cmd' into the Run dialog, tick Create this task with administrative privileges and click OK. A command prompt window should open. Type/copy the following text and press Enter: net user Admin123 MyPassword /add.

Type/copy the following text and press Enter: net localgroup Administrators Admin123 /add. Log off and login to the new Admin123 account.

If it works correctly, you can migrate your data to the new user account. You are welcome to replace 'Admin123' with your username of choice (just enclose it in quotes if it has a space, and be sure to use the same name in both commands). The login password will be 'MyPassword'. You can easily change it later. Log off.

Log on on new account. done.I don't want to migrate to another account though. I guess I'll do a clean install of Windows 10 if nothing will be working.+ Also I found this comment. I'm having the same problem too. Everything was fine up until yesterday, then it just stopped working. From what I've read, and there are numerous posts about this issue on Microsofts forums, it's an issue related to the user profile.

As of now, there seems to be no fix other than creating a new user account.Like others, I really dont' want to do that. Heh, of course, I'm moving this weekend so it's not like I have time to fiddle around with it anyway.I've also found, it's not just the taskbar. Seems to effect any new Windows 10 program tied to your profile. The new Photo Viewer isn't working any longer either. Legacy stuff is fine, and I can get to it via shortcuts I have on my desktop. Which of course, if I need to create a new profile, I'll have to go and migrate over.
