This version of the game was released in 1996, but was retired from the line in 2000 and replaced with JumpStart Adventures 4th Grade: Sapphire Falls, presumably due to it being deemed too scary for an educational game.The plot, setting and characters of Sapphire Falls are completely unrelated to this game and the only Knowledge Adventure product in which any such elements of this game appeared is the long since discontinued online game of KnowledgeLand. However, while nothing of the plot was included in Sapphire Falls, it does include a few games similar to those from Haunted Island.PlotWhile the player is out of school one day, a witch names Mrs. Grunkle turns their classmates into monsters and brings them to her house in Haunted Island. The player, aided by a fortune teller named Madame Pomreeda and a bat named Flap, must traverse through the island and complete games to recover their classmates' possessions, which will change them back to normal. They must also collect 25 keys to reach Mrs.
