640x480 Video Mode Download For Gta
If all of your videos are 640x480 or 360 then I would actually use 640x480. That's standard VGA and will give you the best picture for those videos with out scaling up or down.Your LCD screen doesn't play at 1920x1080. It will accept an input up to 1080, and that is set by the input device (Blu-ray player, PS3, X-Box, or in this case laptop).800x600 is SVGA.
It will give you a very similar picture with minimal upscaling. It will also work better than VGA if you have a mix of NTSC 720x480 files and VGA files. The best thing is that if you're going to be using files that meet the VGA and SD guidelines, don't set your displays to HD.
Using anything bigger than 800x600 causes those fat pixel squares to expand in order to fill the screen. Quote:ok so ive been doing something wrong. Can someone please explain WHY your settings would be 800x600LOL, I didnt want to ask. I just been playing around with the 2 settings back and fourth and switching between High and medium on my VSL. I got a Lady Gaga video that is 640x480 and it looks like its in HD and the rest of the videos show ok, but not like the newer ones. Also do you use frame blending?
I turn mine off on VSL. Going to ME by Friday so hopefully I wont have to mess with all this stuff again. 640x360 is actually 16:9 (1.78:1).
640x480 and 800x600 are 4:3 (1.33:1). You can divide the length by 1.78 or 1.33 to get the proper aspect. It's not so much about preserving the aspect ratio as it is upscaling and downscaling.
You want your display output to be as close to the source dimensions as possible. For instance, you take a 640x360 widescreen video and display it on a 55 inch screen at 640x480 with 16:9 widescreen enabled and it will fill the screen.
In 4:3 standard it will have black bars at the top to account for the missing 120px in the height. Most modern projectors and LCD/Plasma/LED tvs have that option to switch between standard and widescreen. At 640x480 and 800x600 pixels will be exactly the size they were meant to be with no upscaling or minimal upscaling. Now take that same video and increase the resolution to 1280x720. It's automatically a 16:9 framed display, but you are taking the same amount of pixels you had at 640x480 and essentially blowing them up to double their size. So the video is still 640 pixels wide, but you are expanding those pixels to fit in a space meant to hold 1280.
The pixels become more noticeable and your graphics processor has to do more work to upscale the images for your display.Video resolutions are all SOURCE dependent. Not display dependent. If you put a dvd in a blu ray player and set it to 1080p.it's still dvd quality. It doesn't become blu ray. If that were true you could hook up an Atari 2600 and play high def games all day long. But it doesn't work like that.
That's my understanding of it anyway. @ Smoke, yes about the bars unless the display has a setting that will switch to 16:9 widescreen.and a lot of the newer LCDs and projectors do have that.

In that setting, the 640x360 videos would fill the screen and the 640x480 videos would have bars on the sides. Not sure about the stretch. I haven't used VSL in a little while.@ Crank, I'm not exactly sure. I'll do some research and see if I can find out some more information though. Are you running through a distribution amp or video matrix system of some kind?

Are you running through a distribution amp or video matrix system of some kind?I have a VGA distribution amp. I tried to plug into 2 Samusung 32' LCDs, 1 46' LED and 1 Infocus projector. I couldnt get them to calibrate correctly the computer only recognized the disto amp as (other) The pic came out real dark and distorted so I had to only run 2 LCDs and not the other two monitors/infocus.
I am trying to buy this video stuff one time, I just want to make sure I buy the right stuff, you know what I mean.Thanks. VGA is an old, old resolution.but somehow it's maintained.
SVGA is just about as old, but more useable in newer displays and devices.even though it's still a 4:3 frame. From what I remember too, they don't have a widescreen option in the 800x600 on most devices.
I could be wrong, but if that were the case I'd probably go up to the 1280x720 just due to the fact that you're getting a 1:1 scale of the 640x360 videos. But that would be about as high as I would go.and that's still dependent on your GPU.Have you done any tests with that frame size Joshua? I'm on vaca this weekend, but I can run some tests next week when I get back.@Crank, you posted that right as I was typing.
Each of those devices should be sending an EDID to the distro-amp and then to the Mac. The Mac is only picking up the amp though or is picking up all of the EDID info and can't figure out what it all is. And generally, that's what Snow Leopard and ColorSync do. They see your main display and the secondary display. If that secondary is branched off, it still only sees it as one display. You can try a program like SwitchResX to see if it will help. It's free for 10 days, or you can check with the manufacturers sites to see if they have calibration tools for the models that you have. You might want to see if DJMark has any suggestions on that.

I am hoping that there is a fix for it or I may have to get a better switcher or something. I will play around with it tonight to see what I get. Quote:@ Crank, I'm not exactly sure. I am trying to buy this video stuff one time, I just want to make sure I buy the right stuff, you know what I mean.ThanksI ran into this when splitting to both a 40' display and a projector - the projector came out very dark. The workaround was to fire everything up while only the LCD was plugged in to the VGA distro. Once everything was up and running, plug in the projector VGA.
